The diamond Renault brand took advantage of the seventh edition of the festival 4L International to lift the veil on a 4L electric outdoor, specially designed for the occasion.

If Renault has multiplied the projects related to hybrid and electric cars for driving on our roads in the coming months, like hybrid Captur and Clio 5, but also it's zero-emission vehicle headlight, the 2019 ZOE, the firm Tricolore does not forget its heart model, the 4L. So what's better than an electric version to pay tribute to him?

A well-known electric motor

The group has indeed lifted the veil on an electrified version of the 4L Plein Air at the seventh edition of the festival 4L International, which brings together since 2009 the biggest fans of the very popular French vehicle, sold more than eight million copies between 1961 and 1992. Unveiled in 1968, the Plein Air has the distinction of sporting a convertible roof.

The e-Plein Air, its new name, therefore takes the design of its predecessor, but trades its thermal engine for electrical components of the Twizy, as indicated by the Twitter account of the tricolor company. Thus we find a 17 horsepower engine and a battery of 6.1 kWh.

This concept car designed by the teams of Renault Classic, Renault Design and Melun Rétro Passion will, however, remain in the garage: no marketing of the product is currently envisaged. This Plein Airpower was therefore intended to recall memories to the nostalgic, not without marrying automotive technologies, and green, the 21 th century.
