Ford acquires Quantum Signal to boost its autonomous car projects

Ford is stepping up its efforts to develop stand-alone solutions for its vehicles: in addition to its subsidiary Argo, the group has just acquired Quantum Signal, which will support it in its projects in this area. 

The autonomous cars are becoming increasingly important in Ford. The American company has just been hired by Quantum Signal, according to a press release published on Medium. Little known to the general public, the aforementioned company has nevertheless helped the US Army by developing software (ANVEL, for Autonomous Navigation Virtual Environment Laboratory ) dedicated to autonomous military vehicles.

New knowledge


Quantum Signal teams consist of experts in software, real-time simulation, and machine learning, and will put their know-how at the disposal of the multinational as part of its projects related to driverless cars. The firm across the Atlantic will also benefit from its proprietary algorithms developed since its inception in Saline, Michigan in 1999.
