Former Microsoft employee accused of stealing several million dollars from the company

A former Microsoft employee is being sued for stealing digital currency, using it and even reselling it. He was arrested for robbery and planning a $ 10 million robbery.

Purchase of a house over $ 1 million and a Tesla $ 160,000: if the former employee of Microsoft wanted to go unnoticed, he clearly did not make the right purchases.

20 years imprisonment for a $ 10 million robbery in digital currency

Volodymyr Kvashuk is a former Microsoft employee who worked from August 2016 to June 2018 at Microsoft. His tasks consisted mainly of testing the customer experience by mimicking a purchase on the Microsoft site, without validating it. Thus, it did not involve the purchase of gift cards or other digital currency.

The illegal activity of the young Ukrainian would have lasted seven months. The flight series started with amounts of $ 10,000 before reaching millions. In total, before being unmasked, the fraudster would have transferred at least $ 2.8 million to his bank accounts, bought a house at $ 1.5 million and a Tesla at $ 160,000, all using a Bitcoin mixing service to hide the source of the funds.

To be discreet during his flights, Kyashuk would have used test email addresses associated with other employees and masked the digital traces of sales.

Finally, the former employee was heard by the company's investigators in May 2018 and then fired in June 2018. While he appeared for the first time earlier this week in the US court in Seattle, he will appear again this Friday. He faces 20 years of imprisonment and a $ 250,000 fine.
