The Renault Captur will be available in a plug-in hybrid version



The diamond brand has lifted the veil on the all-new version of its Renault Captur SUV. Not without revealing a hybrid version marketed in the course of the year 2020.

This is a first for Renault, which had until then been confined to 100% electric or 100% thermal models. This time, the tricolor company is trying to bet the rechargeable hybrid through its new generation SUV Capture, freshly presented in an official press release. Nothing, or almost, differentiates the two models, except the motorization.

Dimensions revised upwards


In the first place, this new version gains in length and wheelbase compared to the previous version: 4.23 meters (+ 10 cm) and 2.63 meters (+ 2 cm), respectively. The opportunity here to improve the livability of the vehicle. Another novelty: 100% LED lighting and a C (C-Shape) light signature, found for example on the ZOE 2019. Not to mention chrome inserts at the front and rear of the four-wheelers.



With its increased dimensions, the Captur logically offers a higher volume of trunk: 536 liters, 81 liters more than its predecessor. Inside, a 9.3-inch vertical display and a 10.2-inch dashboard add a digital touch to the cabin. On the first, features dedicated to navigation, settings of driving aids and infotainment, or "information-entertainment" will be required.

Double electric motor


The digital instrumentation will display more technical information, such as the battery charge level, energy flows, monitoring of consumption or the location of charge points, according to Automobile Clean. The interior will also be equipped with several packs of upholstery (textile or leather depending on the finish), as well as two USB sockets reserved for the rear passengers.


The new Capture is based on the E-TECH Plug-in technology, characterized by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine of 67 kW (90 horsepower), supported by two electric motors, for a cumulative power of 150 horses. The 9.8 kWh battery gives it a range of 45 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, and 65 km in urban use, depending on the brand. For a top speed of 135 km / h. It also recharges in 3 hours maximum on a load of 3 kW.

Shipments in 2020


In terms of driver assistance systems, the SUV is equipped with a 360-degree camera, an emergency braking system with detection of cyclists and pedestrians, and an exit horn. parking and a highway assistant and traffic. The company's teams offer an almost limitless choice of customization: 90 exterior combinations are on the list, including eleven body color choices, three for the front and rear skis and seven interior packs. 

No price schedule has yet been communicated. Deliveries expected in 2020.
