Renault Clio 5 Hybrid: Everything we know about the city's future diamond

Exterior design: nothing upsetting


The Clio 5 hybrid, like the thermal, takes the main aesthetic codes of the previous generation. With a few differences: at the front, the bonnet welcomes a series of ribs, so as to add a touch of extra character. On the side parts, the chrome surround of the windows, associated with a rocker dug in the sheet overlooking a signature, also chrome, at the bottom of the door, are the main changes.


Side dimensions, this hybrid is shorter of 12 millimeters, and displays the following measurements:

  • Height: 1,440 mm (lowered by 8 mm)

  • Weight: 1,042 pounds

Finally note: the presence of wheels of 15, 16 or 17 inches depending on the version, as well as 100%,  LED floodlights, equipped with the C light signature (C-Shape).

Interior design: upscale


The cabin of the Clio 5 goes upmarket, including the integration of new materials raising the overall quality of the product. A more refined steering wheel with a thumb rest will try to bring a better user experience, just like the digital instrumentation (7 or 10 inches) nested in the continuity of the eyes of the driver.



In total, eight customization packs, for eight light scenes, will compose the offer. What creates an interior to his image, from the dashboard to the door panels, through the steering wheel and armrests. The central touch screen comes in three versions: 7 inches, 7 inches with navigation or 9.3 inches with navigation. Finally, the chest tutor the 391 liters, plus 26 liters of interior storage.

Motorization: non-rechargeable hybrid


The non-refillable Clio 5 Hybrid will rely on a new-generation 1.6-liter gasoline engine, coupled with two electric motors, for a total power of 128 horsepower. Each start will be made in 100% electric, while the battery of 1.2 kWh should provide only 5 km of autonomy to the vehicle, according to 
Auto-Moto.


The diamond car also benefits from regenerative braking, which allows it to recover some valuable kilometers of autonomy during deceleration phases. According to Renault, driving up to 80% of the time in the all-electric in the city should be perfectly possible. Add three driving modes: Eco, Sport, and my sense (default mode).

Driving aids: from the classic


The Clio 5 Hybrid has a host of driving aids, most of which are found on the 2019 ZOE. 

Here is a list: 360 ° camera, reversing camera, Easy Park Assist, active-active braking with detection of cyclists and pedestrians, Highway and Traffic Assistant, cruise control and speed limiter, automatic high beam switch, alarm blind spot, warning line crossing and keeping in the lane, and recognition of traffic signs.

As explained above, the Renault Clio 5 Hybrid will launch into the big bath in the course of the year 2020, without any specific date being communicated. Just like its final price, still unknown, although an estimate of around 20 000 euros, even a little more, come back regularly. It would be well below the 32 100 euros requested for the Peugeot e-208.
