Scooters self-service, the first car parks are created in Paris

The City of Paris provides 15,000 parking spaces specifically reserved for these new modes of urban transport.

The number of scooters in the streets of the capital has meanwhile significantly decreased in recent weeks.

The big cities of the world face the explosion of the electric scooter

The electric scooters have quickly become a real social phenomenon in world metropolises. In a few months, various actors like Lime or Birdoffered to rent a scooter via their mobile applications and we have since seen a real explosion in the use of these new vehicles.

Authorities have been overwhelmed by the widespread adoption of this practice by users and are now trying to regulate to prevent abuse, such as parking awkward scooters on the sidewalks, and accidents. Last June, a user died after refusing a priority to a truck.

Reserved parking areas to clear sidewalks

According to information from CNews, the city of Paris has just made available three "  parking  " for scooters, which can accommodate 18 aircraft in total. They are accessible on the flower quay, rue du Temple and rue Malher, for the inhabitants of the capital.

The municipality does not intend to stop in such a good way and aims to create another 2,500 of these car parks, areas that can accommodate 15,000 scooters.

This figure corresponds to the number of scooters currently in circulation in Paris. "  Their presence has decreased. After inflation above 20,000 at one point, we have fallen below 15,000 now,  "said Christophe Najdovski, deputy mayor of Paris for travel and public space.

Scooter sharing companies should quickly identify these areas in their applications, which could stop their proliferation of pedestrian spaces.
