In addition to a full range of robots set up at the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Toyota Event Partner is preparing to deploy an electric shuttle service for athletes and visitors.
Toyota is a big game. But Tokyo, host of the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games of 2020, intends to show the world the technological power of Japan, through its official partners. The firm of the Land of the Rising Sun is the perfect example: besides the kyrielle of robots planned for the occasion, the group will also offer a service of electric shuttle specially designed for the event.
200 models put into use
The official press release, published by the company, presents the APM, for Accessible People Mover, dedicated to the last kilometer. The machine will benefit the athletes and their respective staff, but also to visitors, especially the elderly and disabled, pregnant women or families with small children.

With the MPAs, the idea is to transport users to the Olympic Village and the stadiums, offering a mobility service that is both green and practical. In total, no less than 200 models will be invited to the Japanese capital during this unmissable sports event that will take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. With a range of 100 kilometers, vehicles reach the maximum speed of 19 km / h.

The MPAs can accommodate a total of five passengers, accompanied by a driver. But the APM is also modular since a " two passengers + a wheelchair " formula is also possible. The transformation into a rescue vehicle is even one of the possibilities envisaged.
