By September 2016, two short months after its release, the game developed by Niantic and published by The Pokémon Company already crossed the 500 million downloads. In February 2017, the game counted 650 million, then 800 million in May 2018.

According to Sensor Tower, Pokémon Go generated $ 2.65 billion in revenue over these three years of operation.
