The autopilot completed, Tesla will stop selling its vehicles ... or sell them much more expensive

Elon Musk is known for his splatter on Twitter. On the night of July 7 to 8, CEO Tesla again proved by explaining that his cars would no longer be sold, or at least at such an " affordable " price, as soon as the development of the 'Autopilot.

Taxis robots instead of humans

Elon Musk has never hidden from it, the ultimate goal of Tesla is to build an Autopilot so reliable that a human presence on board would not be necessary to supervise it, and to make Tesla vehicles 100% autonomous. Although legally it is not yet possible to drive such vehicles everywhere, the system actually begins to function as such, as demonstrated by numerous test videos.

What to suggest that Tesla could indeed set up his project of robot taxisRented by Tesla, they would allow safer and more profitable trips for the company. Even if Musk's plan to set up these taxis of the future is already known, this is the first time the billionaire rules on this desire by verbally expressing the limited time remaining for customers to acquire a Tesla.

"  The production completely changed about three months ago,  " says Musk on Twitter. "  The features will not change until the last quarter since limited by the validation of the software. This happens later in Europe compared to the rest of the world because of the regulatory constraints put in place years ago by the big companies of thermal cars  ".

This prompted Disruption Research, a page interested in unusual business, to question Elon Musk's words: "  Do consumers have limited time to buy a Tesla because prices should be multiplied to balance supply and demand when you have completed Fully Automatic Driving (FSD)?  "
To which the officer replied in the affirmative.

An increase in prices would then be possible

According to the figures given by Tesla during the Autonomy Investor Day, which took place in Palo Alto in April, the profit from the use of its models as robotic taxis rented, not cars for sale, would be approximately $ 330,000. Thus, it would be much more profitable to rent cars instead of selling them. As a result, the CEO of Tesla nevertheless preferred to clarify the situation.

"  To be clear, customers will still be able to buy a Tesla, but the price will increase significantly, as an all-automated car that can operate as a taxi robot is far more profitable than a non-automatic car  ."

This information, although it may be important in the future is still to take with a pinch. In the past, Elon Musk has already advanced on information not validated by Tesla, and we will have to wait to see if it is added to the list.
