Expected for the end of 2019, the Porsche Taycan promises to put us in the spotlight: between performance worthy of the most successful electric sports on the market and neat clean design and brand, the model seems already conquered part of the audience. Back on this ambitious racing car.
Inspired by the Mission E concept, unveiled in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Taycan Porsche is clearly turning heads. The one who presents herself as one of the most ambitious sportswomen of the electrical sector arrives slowly but surely to its phase of production, and thus of marketing. The opportunity for Clubic to return to this little automotive gem that has clearly under the hood.
Exterior design: true to the brand
On the exterior, the Porsche Taycan does not disappoint. Its fluid silhouette and harmonious curves, according to the photos published by the brand, definitely put it in the category of sports, where aerodynamics will play a key role in its performance on the road. This four-door vehicle should also accommodate matrix beam LED lights, referring to the presentation of the prototype of yesteryear.
For the rest, the brand was not very talkative: its dimensions, the wheelbase or size of the rims should however be the subject of an announcement in the coming months, at the next motor show in Frankfurt or Paris. At the time, the German brand also mentioned retro cameras: a technology that has since disappeared from the photos published by the group.
Interior Design: Digital First
The information about its front passenger compartment is, however, more numerous. Leaks about him have indeed enlightened us a little. The least we can say is that the engineers from the firm from across the Rhine wanted to create a 100% digital atmosphere. This is followed by digital instrumentation, a large horizontal slab that extends to the front passenger and a third touch screen placed instead of traditional storage.
In June 2019, an on-board video published on the internet gave us a glimpse of what looked like an Autopilot on Tesla. The mention "Autopilot Ready" spotted the community, however: some called it fake, while others considered it a simple technical demo, developed internally. The perplexity is in fact in relation to the strangely integrated hand seen during this audio-visual pellet.
Performance and autonomy: at the top of the top
Porsche requires, the Taycan does not do in half the measure in terms of performance. The Volkswagen subsidiary, therefore, favored a double electric motor - one on the front axle, the other on the rear axle - delivering 440 kW, or 600 horsepower, for a torque of 1,000 Nm. believe Georg Kacher, a journalist for the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung who had the opportunity to test the model.
Its top speed thus reaches 250 km / h, while the exercise " from 0 to 100 km / h " would take less than 3.5 seconds. As for its battery, the capacity would offer an autonomy oscillating between 400 and 600 kilometers. But above all, it would recharge with a quick charge Combo CSS 800V: the charger of 350 kW, whose first terminals would land at the end of 2019 in the United States, would allow him to recover 100 km of autonomy in four minutes only. To test IRL (" In Real Life "), of course.
Availability and price: luxury comes at a price
Initially set at 20,000 copies per year, the production of the Taycan Porsche, given the strong demand, would have doubled to 40,000 copies. The fact is that the model should be invited on our roads by the end of 2019, for a price of around 100,000 euros. The car shows in Frankfurt and Paris should be an opportunity for the company to reveal more about it, a few months from its official release.
