The American Space Agency does not forget to celebrate Halloween by publishing a pumpkin-like photo on its Facebook account on October 27th.
The image is not new because it was made by the Observatory of Solar Dynamics on October 8, 2014, but it is clearly visible today (Monsters' Day).
An amazing shot
So it is the SDO (for Solar Dynamics Observatory in English) that is at the origin of this amazing image made several years ago. Recall that the observatory of solar dynamics was developed by NASA and launched on February 11, 2010, it is, therefore, more than nine years that he observes continuously the solar star. The main purpose of the space observatory is to observe changes in the Sun's activity in order to better know it and its repercussions on the solar system.Solar activity in the image
This picture shows the activity of the star by showing the most active regions by more or less bright areas. These last correspond to a large amount of light and energy released. According to space agency experts, these areas are " the markers of an intense and complex set of magnetic fields " present in the solar atmosphere. As reported by our colleagues at RTL, this image was made possible by the " combination of two sets of extreme ultraviolet wavelengths that are usually colored in gold and yellow ".
