Good news has just been announced by people for whom the clipping of objects on Photoshop CC is a nightmare. The next version of the software will include a new feature that, thanks to artificial intelligence, automatically detours your images.
Until now, some sites offered this feature, with variable quality.
The end of the complicated clipping?
This type of site may soon no longer have any reason to be for Photoshop users. The feature, featured in a short video published by Adobe Photoshop on YouTube, finds its place in the toolbar, where are already located the quick selection and the magic wand.In each example, a simple selection makes it possible to detach the subject (a pizza, a dog, a person) from its background. Once the object is cut off, the software automatically switches to the "Mask" mode, which allows you to act directly on the selection created.
The tool has already been presented a few months ago, at the same time as the automatic cropping on Première Pro. It would be based on the artificial intelligence of Adobe, Sensei, to determine what is the subject of the scene, and where is its background.
In the process of trimming, the elements whose edges are the most difficult to define (like the hair) pose a regular problem. Here, this difficulty seems greatly reduced thanks to the AI and this could save considerable time to the people realizing regular photo retouching. The Verge also highlights this time saving: " We'll see if the effectiveness of the Photoshop AI is at the rendezvous, but anything that would approach an effective clipping can be useful ." Especially since the automatic switch to "Mask" mode will refine the edges of the clipping intuitively.
Photoshop is also on the iPad
Adobe says the new version of Photoshop CC will also include more modest new features. The software developer explains that he has completely rearranged the home screen to make it faster. Some time ago, the home screen had already been changed: the new version has been reported as very slow, Adobe has redesigned it again. The interface of gradients and shape parameters has also been redesigned. Now, the window must include dozens of predefined gradients, while becoming more intelligible. The result is supposed to save time on designing and adjusting gradients.
Finally, the update signs the arrival of Photoshop on the iPad. Announced a long time, the application can now support.PSD files from the Cloud, to synchronize its creations between tablets and computers.
The Verge nonetheless states that not all features will be present on the tablet, others remaining to come.
