Orange signs a distribution agreement for BFM and RMC

After months of negotiations, sometimes strained, Orange manages to conclude an agreement with Altice for the distribution of BFM and RMC channels.

We learn this November 6, 2019, that Orange has signed an agreement with RMC and BFM, media group Altice, with whom he was in conflict.

The hatchet is buried

Orange thus obtains a distribution right for the BFM Business channel and the associated services of BFMTV, RMC Story, RMC Découverte, BFM Paris, BFM Lyon Métropole and i24News. "  This agreement will also allow the distribution of enriched services and innovative features around Altice France's programs, including programs in the replay with extended broadcast windows, programs for the first broadcast of their TV broadcast and programs in France. UHD / 4K,  "says Altice in a statement.

As a reminder, relations between Orange and Altice had deteriorated as their previous distribution agreement expired and the incumbent operator refused to give in to the new requirements of its competitor. Orange notably considered that it did not have to pay to broadcast free channels on DTT and that the price charged for the services enriched by the channels was excessive in view of the audiences generated.

Last September, Orange had even cut the signal of BFMTV on its Live boxes to put pressure on Altice, following the example of Free. Patrick Drahi's group eventually abdicated by agreeing not to be compensated for the broadcast of BFMTV, RMC Story and RMC Découverte.
