Would NVIDIA be working on a new Shield TV? In any case, this is what a reference filing suggests to the FCC, pointing not only to a new generation of the multimedia box but also to a Chromecast dongle.
Released in 2017, Shield TV is still among the best multimedia boxes on the market. But it goes without saying that a manufacturer such as NVIDIA can not let the hardware of its products age too long.
A new processor for the 2017 Shield TV
According to information crossed between 9to5Google and Android TV Rumors, NVIDIA does not work strictly speaking on a new Shield TV, but on an upgrade of its internal clock. On the documents filed by the mark at the FCC, the 2017 case (model P2897) will be equipped with a new Tegra X1 processor "T210 B01". A code name, which differs from the current Tegra X1 A2 that equips Shield TV.
In addition to this new processor, the future Shield TV could also be accompanied by a new remote control. A smart idea from NVIDIA, which had faced with its previous model to some dissatisfaction on the part of users, judging for the most part unreactive.
A Chromecast dongle for Shield TV?
Another reference filed with the FCC questions. The device, described in the documents as " NVIDIA Corporation's SHIELD Android TV Game Console P3430 ", may well be a dongle that would connect directly to an HDMI port on the TV, according to Android TV Rumors.
The diagram submitted to the FCC indeed reveals a fairly thin device, rectangular in shape and roughly taking the form of an Amazon Fire Stick.

There is still not enough detail to burn this new device in the marble, but the addition of a dongle NVIDIA catalog would make sense, especially on the green team plans future commercialization of its GeForce NOWcloud gaming service. In doing so, NVIDIA would then be able to offer a platform almost similar to Google's Stadia, which is scheduled for launch in November.
