Using smartphone more than 4 or 5 hours a day would promote obesity

How many hours do you spend on your smartphone each day? Know that using it for more than four hours can make you gain weight. 

Obesity would be increased by 43% for the addict's smartphone.

It's in a study presented at the CCA's 2019 Latin America Conference that research asserts one fact: smartphones are getting fatter. Indeed, used many hours each day, they contribute to the reduction of the practice of a sports activity. 

Smartphones have become a staple in entertainment. So much so that out of the 1,060 students analyzed, researchers are able to say that more than 42% of them could become obese if they do not change their habits.

According to Mirary Mantilla-Morron, a specialist in vascular, pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Bolivar University in Colombia, it is important for the public to be aware that mobile technology used for entertainment can and must also be used for healthy living habits (sports, in particular). 

In addition to promoting obesity, excessive use of the smartphone can also increase the risk of heart disease. By facilitating sedentary activities, the smartphone reduces the time dedicated to the sport and promotes health problems.

Of the total sample analyzed, 26% were overweight. That's 275 people, 48 of whom spend more than five hours on their smartphones. 

The study was conducted on a total of 700 women and 360 men. It shows that women are more likely to have extra pounds. Thus, 36.1% of men could be overweight while this represented 63.9% of women. As for obesity, the difference is smaller: 42.6% for men and 57.4% for women.


No secret or miracle solution finally: you just have to forget your smartphone a few hours.
