The PAK DA stealth strategic bomber, developed by Russia, is expected to be the main competitor of the American B-21 but will fly after the latter.

The years pass, and the United States and Russia continue to play cat and mouse. A few days after the declaration of the number 2 of the US Air Force, who announced that his long-range bomber B-21 ("Raider") could be ready to fly by December 2021, Russia has unsheathed an ambitious response by announcing the first flight of its future strategic bomber, thePAK DA , for 2025 or 2026 .

A device to replace the aging bombers of the Cold War

Developed by the Russian aerospace force, the PAK DA, the latest stealth strategic bomber, will soon be tested at the Zhukovsky test and flight test center, located about 30 km from Moscow. This is also where medium-haul military transport aircraft are tested.

Intended to replace the aging Tu-22M3, Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers, which date back to the Cold War, the PAK DA is equipped with a flying wing, designed to penetrate discreetly hostile airspace., and four reactors. Viktor Bondarev, head of the Defense and Security Committee of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, said the research and development of the device were "  nearing completion  ".

Serial production envisaged in less than 10 years

The PAK DA, which will be used as a bomber, command center and reconnaissance aircraft, could take a walk in the air in 2025-2026, as we said. Its serial production could be effective a little later, by 2028-2029, as confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Defense and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov at the local press agency (TASS).
