Toyota tests new solar roof for its electric vehicles



The Toyota manufacturer is testing a brand new solution of solar panels, to integrate on its future electric vehicles. 

Of photovoltaic panels of the new generation, that would recover close to 45 km range per day!

New Toyota Prius Solar under test


Already available on the manufacturer's website, the Toyota Prius Solar(which relies, in part, on via solar energy) should soon be available in a new form, much more efficient. It evokes a performance five times higher than what Toyota currently offers with its Prius Solar. 

Toyota is currently testing a new prototype, equipped with new photovoltaic cells, finer and more efficient, scattered on various components of the body, on the hood or the tailgate.



Toyota insists that this new technology can charge the car at a standstill, but also when the car moves, with the ability to recover up to 45 km of autonomy in one day. Depending on the usage, the solar energy can also be transmitted to the battery which supplies the radio, the GPS ...

A test in Japan at the end of the month


This new technology is not expected to arrive on our vehicles for a few months since Toyota specifies to conduct a test in Japan by the end of July. In this way, the manufacturer will test his car in various weather conditions including, but also various modes of driving.
