Google extends instant camera translation to more than 100 languages

The Google Translation application has undergone a profound update, which has added sixty languages that the service will be able to instantly translate via the camera of a smartphone.

Faced with the language barrier, Google Translate proves to be a great tool. What's more, when your smartphone's camera - once activated via the app - can instantly translate a language that is completely foreign to you. Practice during a trip to a distant land where the local language is unknown to you. Even more practical, since Google Translate does not require in this kind of case no internet connection.

88 source languages

To continue to offer an even more comprehensive experience to its users, the Mountain View company has decided to update its tool by adding more than sixty languages, from Arabic to Hindi to Malay, Thai and Vietnamese, we learn in an official press release. Thus, the total of source languages amounts to 88, able to be translated into more than one hundred languages of our planet (find the complete list here ). The number of possible combinations is almost irrelevant.

New features

Another novelty added by the American multinational, the option "  Detect language  ". Example: you are dealing with a text whose language you do not recognize. By activating this feature, Google will give you the answer, and translate it all in stride. The Californian group has also integrated Neural Machine Translation (NMT) technology, which performs more accurate translations and reduces errors by 55 to 85 percent, depending on the languages selected.
