G2A |
Critically criticized by developers and accused of fraud, the site G2A is struggling to whitewash its reputation and recent events should not fix things.
The Polish firm has tried to convince several media to advocate in its favor in a total opacity. Except that on social networks, everything ends up being known ...
G2A wants to interfere "discreetly" in the media
Recall that G2A is a Polish online store specialized in the trade of activation keys for video games. Users can get many titles for rates well below those applied to more traditional shops like Steam for example. Over the years, independent studios have publicly criticized G2A'business practices. The comments are quite evocative since developers even called the players to hack their games rather than buy them on the Polish site.
Concerned about his image, G2Atried to spread his vision of things but again, the practices are more than doubtful. Indeed, the media have received an email ( see the tweet below ) quite amazing from the company. The latter offers straight to the sites in question to publish an article aimed at restoring " the truth " about stolen game keys. Except that the article in question has already been written by G2A ...
A poorly organized propaganda
Here is an excerpt from the email G2A sent to the media: " We have written an unbiased article about selling stolen keys on marketplaces is almost impossible and we want to publish it on YOUR site without it being mentioned as being sponsored or in partnership with G2A. It is a fair and transparent criticism of the problem of the resale of stolen keys. "
Faced with such a scandal, G2A quickly took the floor to explain that this email had been sent by " an employee without any authorization", before adding that it was an " unacceptable " practice. G2A has been accused of many offenses in the past, such as obtaining keys via stolen bank cards or the purchase of advertisements on Google in order to pass his profile of the game Descenders before the official page of the game (which the creator does not no commission for sales made on the Polish shop).
According to the Kotaku website, the employee mentioned in the official response did not wish to be interviewed at the moment. Anyway, it is not with this new business that G2A will score points with professionals in the field and with players.
