DS 3 Crossback e-Tense: orders are open

Pre-orders for the DS 3 Crossback e-Tense have just begun. The first electric vehicle proposed by the manufacturer, the urban SUV should be delivered from January 2020.

The arrival of an electric version for the DS 3 Crossback marks a turning point in the strategy of the subsidiary PSA. In the near future, the whole range should indeed take advantage of its own electrified declination. A rechargeable hybrid version of the DS 7 Crossback, called e-Tense 4x4, is already announced.

Delivery scheduled for January 2020

The news came on July 1st: the pre-orders for the DS 3 Crossback e-Tense are open. Presented for the first time in October 2018, at the Paris Motor Show, the electric SUV should not be delivered before January 2020.

While the thermal version starts at € 23,500, it will take everything from even to count 39 100 € to afford the DS 3 Crossback e-Tense in finish So Chic (bonus of 6 000 € to deduce). Not surprising, since its main rival, the Hyundai Kona EV, is in the same price range.

An electric largely inspired by the thermal version

The gradual electrification of its range, DS begins with its bestseller. Voted "Best Production Car" at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the DS 3 Crossback is a perfect canvas to embody the new ambitions of the manufacturer.

The electric version e-Tense also retains the assets of his big sister: a sculptural look, a box in the shape of a stick, integrated outside handles integrated into the door and smart projectors. The same goes for the habitability and volume of the trunk since the batteries are arranged in the shape of "H" and do not encroach on the space.

Autonomy announced at 320 km

The novelty is obviously at the engine that it happens. Powered by a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 100 kW electric motor, the DS 3 Crossback e-Tense promises a record range of 320 km (in WLTP cycle). Developing a total power of 136 horses, the French carries out the exercise from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.7 seconds.

If it still takes 5 hours to fully charge the SUV with a wallbox, only 30 minutes are required to regain 80% battery life with a fast charger. A sufficient argument to make us wait? The answer in January.
