Apple does not expect to sell much more iPhone this year than the previous one

According to Apple's order backlog, the Cupertino company expects steady sales in the second half of the year. And that even if the new iPhone will land in September. 

Bloomberg reports today that Apple 's suppliers are preparing to produce components for around 75 million iPhones in the second half of 2019, 

a relatively stable figure compared to the same period last year, which suggests that Apple does not expect to set new sales records with the next generation of smartphones.

Apple sold between 70 and 80 million iPhones in the second half of 2018

It has been a long time since Apple officially communicates on the number of units sold. This does not prevent analysts to go on the wet finger. For the second half of 2018, Apple would have sold between 70 and 80 million iPhones. In other words: more or less what the company is preparing to produce for the remainder of this year 2019. 

The resources of the production line of Apple not only cover the current models still sold by the brand, but also the three new iPhone that the firm will probably present in September. Also, according to Bloomberg, some providers keep the game in case of requests larger than expected. Sources close to the file confirmed to Bloomberg that the production capacity could expand to 80 million units without too much force. 

Apple's chief assembler, Foxconn, has also stepped up its recruitment and would offer new recruits a 10% salary increase over last year to be prepared for a possible explosion in demand.

A pivotal year for Apple

This year has been rich in lessons for Apple. The ups and downs, the results of the firm in sales of iPhone push the company to measure its expectations on the new generation of smartphones that are announced. In addition, users tend to renew their equipment less regularly and, according to the latest rumors about the iPhone 2019, it is probably not this new model that will motivate them to checkout. 

Same design, same screens: the iPhone "XI" will end up with a third photo sensor on the back, dedicated to wide-angle photography. An addition enough to justify a plebiscite and jostling at the release of these new devices? We will know it next September.

2020, moreover, is already announced as an important year for Apple. The iPhone that Apple will launch in more than a year is already at the heart of many rumors; among which the presence of a screen OLED 120 Hz is particularly dreaming.
