The Amazon e-commerce giant and the car manufacturer Honda have entered into a unique partnership, which allows Amazon Prime customers and owners of a Japanese brand vehicle to be delivered directly into the trunk of their car. Service also available on the models of General Motors, Volvo and Ford.
In 2018, Amazon formalized the roll-out of its new Amazon Key service alongside its partners General Motors and Volvo. The idea: to be able to deliver a package directly into the trunk of a customer without it intervening at a lesser time. A visibly attractive concept, adopted in 2019 by the American car brands Lincoln and Ford. To this list is now added a newcomer, Honda.
Strict conditions
In a press release posted on his website, the Japanese manufacturer is making the news. It states that only customers subscribed to theHondaLink application (free) can receive it in fifty cities. These services are also billed $ 110 a year, as specified by Engadget. Another sine qua non to respect: the subscription to Amazon Prime, obviously.
With all the aforementioned subscriptions in hand, a user is then able to take advantage of the Key by Amazon In-Car service - only available in the United States, as a reminder. You still need a Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Insight, Passport, Driver or Odyssey, only cars from the Japanese firm eligible. Then comes the phase of the configuration.
A precise niche
Selecting the year and vehicle model is the first step before entering the credentials for your HondaLink account. The user must then park his vehicle within two blocks of the delivery address, during a time slot between 11am and 15h. The driver geolocates the car, unlocks it, drops the package and locks it before leaving. A notification finally warns the customer.
