FFT reaches an agreement with France Televisions after tense negotiations

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) finally decided. For several weeks its leaders negotiated the broadcasting rights of the Roland Garros tournament for the period 2021-2023.

FFT historical partner, France Televisions was obviously in the ranks to extend its contract but the high courts of French tennis had publicly announced that the offers proposed by the public broadcasting group were too low given the prestige of the competition.

After several days of deliberation, the two partners have reached an agreement and France Televisions will continue to broadcast all matches on its antennas.

Amazon moves timidly on the French sports rights market

There is nevertheless a surprise, and it is important for the French audiovisual! The FTT also said that Amazon recovered the lot n ° 2, namely the retransmission of matches played on court Simonne-Mathieu, and those in evening sessions on court Philippe-Chatrier, which will be exclusive. These games will be available to Prime Video subscribers, the VOD platform of the online distribution giant.

If this news is a first in France, Amazon has already bought sports rights, especially in the world of tennis, in other European countries. In Great Britain, she won competitions at the US Open, the Masters 1000 / ATP 500, and the WTA circuit.

This sharing of broadcasting rights is the business of the FFT. The amount increases by "  more than 25%  " compared to the previous call for tender which was of the order of 20 million euros per year for the broadcast of the entire Roland Garros tournament.
