Will cloud gaming be the nerve of war in 2020? In any case, Valve seems motivated to carve a piece of the cake.
In an update of the code SteamDB, some sleuths have observed a line evoking a service called "Steam Cloud Gaming". What gives place to moult speculations.
The choice left to developers
In the code posted on SteamDB, we notice that Valve seems to ask permission from publishers/developers to make their games available on a service called "Steam Cloud Gaming".| The new SteamDB code clearly mentions a cloud gaming service. © SteamDB |
If Valve did indeed plan to get into the cloud gaming race, there's no doubt that Stadia would look down on it. The Google platform will open on November 19 and will ask its first subscribers to checkout to buy the games that interest them.
But in the hypothesis of a Steam branded gaming cloud service, one can imagine that some titles already present in the users' toy library could be made available via Valve's servers.
