Seat Mii: all we know about the low-cost electric micro-city

As the first electric car of the Spanish manufacturer Seat, the Mii aims to invest our cities for exclusively urban use. On paper, this micro-city may not sell the dream, but its relatively low price list could seduce more than one.

In June 2019, the company beyond the Pyrenees Seat officially entered the era of electric mobility, lifting the veil on its first zero-emission vehicle called Mii. A model exhibited three months later as part of the Frankfurt Motor Show, then unveiled at all in late October in a detailed press release. The opportunity, in particular, to discover its attractive purchase price.

" The goal is to offer a vehicle ready to meet the challenges of driving in the city, and to meet the needs of a new generation of customers,  "writes the manufacturer. Because the Mii has everything from a micro-city: from its dimensions to its performance through its pricing. 

Exterior design

Who says micro-city, said inevitably reduced dimensions: 3,556 mm long, 1,645 mm wide, 1,481 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,421 mm, the Seat Mii is, of course, the opposite of sedans and SUV of the market. Its small size, however, has a weight advantage: its matboard side allows it to park more easily in the city. 

His aesthetic is quite classic as for him the insipidity. Clearly, you will not buy this model for its design, but for its practicality. Its "Mii electric Plus" finish (an additional € 1,150) features 16-inch alloy wheels, with over-tinted rear windows and LED daytime running lights.

Interior design

In the digital age, the majority of electrified vehicles fresh out of the factory is equipped with equipment generally materialized by several screens on board. But with regard to the single photo published by the Iberian company, it is clear that the Mii away considerably from these new standards.

Analog meters are on the dashboard while a myriad of buttons makes up the center console. For the modern side, it will be necessary to iron. Support for the smartphone has certainly been added to the front, without creating a "whole" effect, obviously. At the rear, the boot offers a capacity of 251 liters, expandable up to 923 liters with the rear seats folded. Sports and heated front seats are also available in the "Mii electric Plus" finish.

Power and autonomy

Equipped with a motor of 61 kW (83 horses) for a couple of 212 Nm, the Spanish city has enough power to move in the city: the exercise from 0 to 50 km / h is carried out in 3.9 seconds, while its top speed ticks 130 km / h. Forget the thrills onboard: it can not be repeated, the Mii is primarily intended for urban use.

Its 32.3 kWh lithium-ion battery also gives it a modest autonomy of 259 kilometers, according to the WLTP certification cycle. Allow one hour to regain 80% of its energy via a 40 kW continuous current, and four hours thanks to an alternating current of 7.2 kW.

System and connectivity

Without an onboard display, it's difficult to offer interesting infotainment systems. The Mii Electric is still armed with a connected app called Seat Connect, from which the user can "  view the status of the battery and start or stop charging but also plan  ."

Visualize the geolocation of the vehicle, check the status (open, closed) doors, windows and lights, but also manage the remote air conditioning are part of the proposed features. The serial model is also equipped with the Lane Assist system, a hill starts aid and a DAB digital radio.

Price and availability

As you will have noticed, the zero-emission Seat Mii is neither the most beautiful nor the best equipped nor the most powerful car. But this model has a strong asset to convince potential customers to finalize a purchase: its price, set at 21,920 euros without the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros. Count therefore 15 920 euros with the financial assistance granted by the State, a tariff grid among the lowest of the market of the electric mobility.

Available in option, four packs make up the offer of the product: City, Easy Flex, Winter and Home Charge, supported by five colors that are the Intense Black, Costa Blue, Tungsten Gray, White Candy, and Red Tornado. The first deliveries will take place from the first quarter of the year 2020.
