New Navi GPUs, coming soon. This is what Lisa Su clearly explained this week in an interview with AMD shareholders. Better yet, it should be high-end models.
The question is very interesting and the answer is even more so. As part of a trading session, following AMD's results for the second quarter of 2019, a group shareholder asked Lisa Su (AMD CEO) what were the plans of the group. the group in terms of offering high-end Navi. The return of the leader has the merit of being clear: the high-end offer is on the way.
" I would say they arrive, " explained Lisa Su about future high-end Navi GPUs. " You should expect the completion of these projects to be on track. We have a rich portfolio of [chips] 7 nm that goes beyond the products we have already announced for the next quarters, "she concluded.
This response clearly suggests that AMD does not intend to stick to its Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT. Two GPUs essentially centered on the mid-range, which come to compete, respectively, RTX 2060 and 2070.
According to recent rumors, at least two new chips, high-end this time, would be expected at AMD: the RX 5800 and 5900. They could also be broken down into XT versions. According to TechPowerUp, the eventual Radeon RX 5800 would use a brand new GPU, called Navi 12.
