After its success in Europe, Nissan launches its Leaf in four South American countries

In an attempt to increase its global market share, Nissan is expanding the deployment of its LEAF electric car in four South American markets.

The Nissan group could be proud of its 2018 vintage: with 40,699 LEAFsold during the year, its electric car has ranked first in the ranking of the best-selling zero-emission vehicles in Europe. In total, no less than 400,000 LEAF models have been sold since the launch in 2010. A success that pushes the Japanese brand to continue its efforts in this area by attacking new markets.

Chile, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil

press release published on the company's website formalizes the deployment of LEAF in four new countries in South America, namely Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Since December 2018, this equator could already pre-order the flagship electrified vehicle of the subsidiary of Renault ... Without seeing the color. It is now done with the kickoff of deliveries.

"  Latin America's high-speed development and growth requires mobility solutions that are safe, smart and sustainable,  " said Guy Rodriguez, in charge of the South America zone at Nissan. And to continue: "  The Nissan LEAF will allow us to contribute to a future zero-emission that will improve the lives of our customers  ."

Towards other horizons?

By the end of August, the group will expand its recharging network with 48 new stations spread across the four territories. According to Electrek, sales of electric cars are struggling to take off in South America: Nissan is, therefore, trying a small risky bet that could be rewarded if successful. Potential positioning in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay is also envisaged.
