Xbox Kinect sensors used as surveillance cameras at an airport

Newark Liberty International Airport used special cameras for its security system: Kinect sensors.

The airport in the western suburbs of New York has indeed installed the cameras of Microsoft to monitor the different comings and goings of travelers.

Kinect to monitor Newark Liberty Airport

At the launch of the Xbox One, Microsoft's Kinect V2 camera was announced as the perfect companion for all players and as an inseparable accessory to the console. It only took a few months for the latter (as Microsoft for that matter ...) to bury the concept definitively.

However, it seems that Kinect is not yet completely forgotten, since a certain Jason Scott has seen, at Newark Liberty International Airport, various cameras "made in Microsoft" to ensure the safety of travelers.

Xbox logo included!

Cameras placed on long articulated arms ... and which still have the Xbox logo. It is unclear whether Newark Liberty International Airport and Microsoft have entered into any partnership to use Kinect sensors as a surveillance camera. Nothing is less sure.

Recall that Microsoft recently released a new version of Kinect, in the form of a development kit IA. A kit called "Azure Kinect Camera DK System" proposed for 399 dollars, the first copies will be shipped to the United States and China.
