A recent study in the UK has shown that city electric bicycle use is better for health and urban mobility than electric cars.

The study conducted by the Research Center for Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS) in the United Kingdom has recently proved that the arrival of electric cars and their increase in the city would not be without consequences for the inhabitants of towns and agglomerations. Indeed, with the growing demand for electric cars, prices are starting to fall little by little. However, as their use becomes less expensive, more households will be equipped with zero-emission vehicles in the future, thus causing a significant increase in traffic jams in urban areas.
Unexpected consequences
In addition to the significant increase in traffic congestion in cities , the increase in electric cars would have two consequences, according to the research center, namely: an increase in the size of cities , which would build in order to be able to store this surplus of cars and especially a sharp increase in obesity in urban populations.
These unintended consequences could, therefore, be curbed by the more widespread use in urban areas of electric bikes or scooters. Thus, the problems due to the increase in road traffic could be revised downwards.
This study may seem surprising and even a little extreme but seems to join the observations of other reports, in which we discovered the benefits of the electric bike. A study published earlier this year had also shown that the electric bike can help seniors to fight against sedentary lifestyles and improve their welfare.
