Expected for the beginning of the year 2021, the future electric competition Extreme E, which aims to raise awareness among the population to the defense of the environment, knows its very first vehicle: a large size SUV answering the name of Odyssey 21.
In February, the Clubic editorial team presented you with a brand new motorsport championship that focuses on electric vehicles. But not only. Called Extreme E, this competition will also have as its main objective to raise awareness of the general public in the defense of the environment by drawing their attention to climate change and the danger that man represents for nature.
An SUV that imposes
How? By organizing races in the middle of endangered areas. An objectionable idea with regard to the environmental consequences that, by way of example, would lead to an accident. The fact is that Extreme E will be held around the globe: the Himalayas, the Sahara, the Amazon, the Arctic or the islands of the Indian Ocean will be the key stages of the course.
But driving in extreme conditions necessarily requires a racing car worthy of holding the tide. Present on the starting line in about two years, the Odyssey 21, presented at the Goodwood Speed Festival, in Great Britain, will be one of the vehicles capable of braving the elements. And the least we can say is that this impressive SUV impresses with its size and performance.
4.5 seconds
As stated in the press release, the Odyssey 21 has impressive measurements: 1650 kilos and 2.3 meters wide. This does not prevent it from cutting down the 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds, thanks to a power of around 400 kW, or 550 horses. Climbing the ribs by 52 degrees will not be a problem for him. Finally, note the presence of raised suspensions. The Odyssey 21 should be joined by other gear of the same kind in the coming months.
