The classic Nintendo Switch will gain power with a new processor

With over 35 million copies sold worldwide, the Nintendo Switch has it all. However, the Japanese manufacturer's machine is often criticized for its lack of power compared to the competition.

Nintendo has decided to update the components of its console in order to improve its capabilities.

A lite before a Pro?

Decidedly, the hybrid machine is at the heart of the news right now. This week, the Nintendo Switch Lite has finally been made official by the brand. This is a lite version that can not be used on a TV and has been purified of several features such as detachable Joy-Con or HD vibrations. If the price of this Lite will be significantly reduced (around 200 €), it is clear that this announcement did not satisfy those who were waiting for an update of the capabilities of the console.

Fortunately, Nintendo has not forgotten fans who would like to put their hands on a Nintendo Switch more powerful. Indeed, the Kyoto firm filed a request for authorization to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in order to market a new version of its machine, released in March 2017. If the improvements will not be "  revolutionary  ", they could still significantly boost the performance of the Switch.

Waiting for a real breakthrough ...

Thus, the SoC Tegra X1 will be replaced and the NAND memory will be modified. More generally, the Nintendo Switch could benefit from some minor adjustments in charging times, battery life or even its temperature when turned on. In addition, the internal memory (which is currently 32 GB on all models) should be revised upwards.

However, it is important to note that this is still the basic Switch but with slightly more powerful components. The differences in arrival should not be obvious. In short, nothing to do with the hypothetical Nintendo Switch Pro or XLthat rumors have been evoking for a long time. At the moment, nothing concrete has filtered about it.
