This week is the QuakeCon 2019 in Dallas but also in London. During this event, Bethesda Softworks made some announcements around its licenses. However, the real star of the evening will have been DOOM, since the saga celebrates this year its twenty-fifth anniversary.
First of all, it's important to remember that this 2019 QuakeCon is not an E3. Thus, the announcements that have been made this week are not necessarily attractive to everyone. Indeed, the fair organized by Bethesdais primarily focused on competitions around the games of the publisher ( The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Quake ...) and round tables with the developers. However, we had a few nice little revelations.
First of all, it is RAGE 2 that has been illustrated with its new major update. She embarks the New Game +, an Ironman mode, ultra nightmare difficulty, unpublished skins, the voice of Wolfenstein's BJ Blazkowicz and much more. This patch is already available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pete Hines, vice president of marketing at Bethesda, also announced that Fallout 4, Wolfenstein: The New Order and DOOM (2016) will be landing on the PlayStation Now streaming service on August 6th.
Then, the id Software developers came on stage to formalize the arrival of DOOM (1993), DOOM 2 and DOOM 3 on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Each game is sold separately now with additional levels and all their DLCs. Note also that the first two are available on iOS and Android.
Finally, it was DOOM Eternal who closed the conference. The opus released November 22 illustrated its online mode Battle Mode which will bring together three players. Two will embody the famous demons (among five playable types) and the other will take control of the DOOM Slayerthrough six maps at launch. Free content will be constantly posted for fans and the presentation ended with a video featuring two new demons. You can view the entire segment of DOOM Eternal below.
