Polluting vehicles: the conversion premium will soon be lowered by the government?

The government recently announced it, the conversion premium should be revised to change the attribution rules.

A conversion bonus used with abuse

According to Le Parisien, more than 220,000 applications were filed at the end of June and therefore a total of 450,000 will be submitted by the end of the year, for a cost estimated by the government at 900 million euros. euros, when he planned 600 million.
Thus, even if the Ministry of the Ecological and Solidarity Transition has not confirmed these figures, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy, admits noting abuses in the award of this bonus, particularly on the purchase of vehicles. more than 40,000 euros: « You have vehicles that cost 40, 45, 50,000 euros that can benefit from the conversion bonus; I'm not sure if people buying these vehicles need the conversion bonus,  "he told BFMTV on Friday night.

Changes to be made to the award of bonuses

Normally designed to help households change vehicles for a cleaner car meeting Crit'Air 1 or 2 standards, the allocation of premiums should be slightly modified to be fairer. Thus, even if 20% of the most modest households already benefit from a super premium of 4 000 €, the government wishes to re-evaluate its premiums.
Today, subsidies on diesel and gasoline vehicles amount to € 4,000, and they reach € 5,000 for hybrid cars.

A situation that could change according to the Minister of Transport: " We will look at the criteria to make sure we reach the target, that is to say, vehicles really cleaner,  "said Elisabeth Borne at France Info on Friday.
