Nintendo sued on recurring problems on the Joy-Con of his Switch

It has been hanging in his face for a while now, and it's now official: Nintendo is targeted by a group action in the United States for recurring problems on his Joy-Con.

The complaint was officially filed yesterday by Chimicles, Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith; which made sure to have recovered enough complaints from the users.

The "drifting" problems of Joy-Con pointed out

At the heart of the problem are Joy-Con's joysticks, the detachable controllers of the Nintendo Switch. Since the release of the console in March 2017, many users have found that one of the two joysticks could remain virtually blocked in one direction after prolonged use. This can be manifested in particular by the character moving forward in a random direction without being asked.

If in many cases, a simple recalibration Joy-Con is enough to solve the problem, some players have no choice but to go back to the cashier to afford a new pair of controllers (billed 89 € ).
"  Specifically, the complaint states that the joystick Joy-Con joystick automatically records movement when the joystick is not used by the user and interferes with the gaming experience," reads the official complaint(PDF ). "  The complaint, filed on behalf of the buyers of Switch and Joy-Con, is the subject of claims under various consumer protection laws as well as various warranty claims and common law  ."

A long-standing dysfunction

The articles and complaints of players are multiplying on the Internet. And this since the release of the flagship console Nintendo.

Just look for the words "  Joy-Con drift  " on Twitter or Reddit to convince yourself. Last week, a Reddit post imploring Nintendo to finally solve the problem has just collected more than 27,000 upvotes.

Nintendo, for its part, has never designed to take note of the dysfunctions of its Joy-Conno more than setting up exchange or repair facilities for its unhappy customers. An attitude that is reminiscent of Apple with the dysfunctional keyboards of its latest MacBook Pro. Even if, as we know, things are starting to move in this direction.
