Huawei Mate 20 X 5G arrives this month in Italy

Hindered by US sanctions, Huawei nevertheless continues to prepare the launch of new smartphones. Among the fine models ready to be marketed, the Mate 20 X 5G, which must arrive at retailers by the end of July.

The Mate 20 X 5G follows the Mate X. Announced last February, at the conference held by Huawei MWC, the device was to be the first 5G smartphone company. According to VentureBeat, the Mate 20 X, which is expected in the coming weeks, will obviously be responsible for replacing it.

In fact, the Mate 20 X 5G will not be much different from the Mate 20 X that Huawei presented at the end of last year. The camera takes over the bulk of its technical data, with the same massive 7.2-inch AMOLED display, the same photosensors (a 40 MPx main sensor, an 8-megapixel x2 optical zoom and a wide-angle lens of 20 Mpx). Unsurprisingly, this 5G variant of the Mate 20 X will also include a Kirin 980 SoC from HiSilicon (a subsidiary of Huawei).

The main differences, however, are found in terms of modem, RAM and internal storage. The Mate 20 X 5G is equipped with the Balong 5000 modem announced by Huawei earlier this year, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. (against 6 GB and 128 GB on the Mate 20 X "classic"). The terminal will finally display a 5G logo on its back and a new color: Jade.

Launch planned in China, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates

On the availability side, the Mate 20 X 5G is expected on July 26 in China, but would already be available in the United Arab Emirates (since July 12 explains Neowin based on the details provided by a local dealer). In Europe, the situation is a little more blurry.

If the launch dates are not officially known for the Old Continent, Amazon Italy offers the Mate 20 X 5G pre-order at a price of 1,100 euros, for a launch expected July 22. In Britain, some operators like Vodafone have simply indicated that Huawei's first 5G smartphone would be "  soon  " available. The device remains for the time only accessible pre-order.

Switzerland and Monaco have also announced the upcoming availability of the terminal on their territory. France, meanwhile, seems a little forgotten. Recall moreover that the Mate 20 X "classic" is not available in our latitudes.
