The Internet is an exception for advertising regulations in favor of alcohol. Unlike other channels of communication, the network can indeed promote alcoholic beverages. This is what poses a problem to the deputies of the insubordinate France (LFI) who would like to extend the framing of this consumer product by limiting its distribution also on the web.
Alcohol is not a regular consumer product, this is what the LFI deputies hammered out with these claims, judging the Evin law of 1991 insufficient. According to them, with the Internet, it no longer allows us to alert and properly protect the population from the dangers of alcohol. They want this to change.
Limit the promotion of alcoholic beverages
" Alcohol consumption in France is responsible for more than 49,000 deaths a year ." This is the first argument advanced by LFI MPs to support their desire to see a law regulating the advertising of alcohol on the Internet. Currently, only sites dedicated to youth or sport do not have the right to host this type of advertising.
Proponents of this project believe that legislation must change and that regulation must also apply on the Internet. However, they advocate allowing advertisements for sites of professionals validated by the Ministry of Health and Communication,
Reduce the influence of lobbies
LFI MPs also expressed their desire to limit lobbying by requiring industry professionals to submit an annual report to the Minister of Health detailing all expenses related to influence or interest representation activities. "
