The second sensor of the Google Pixel 4 would be a telephoto

Google

If Pixel 3 and 3a were able to do wonders in photography via a single sensor, Google's future Pixel 4 could rely on an additional module.

According to the code of the application Google Camera in version 6.3, currently available in the last beta of Android Q, the Pixel 4 could be equipped with a Tele-objective to assist the main sensor.

Better resolution on long focal lengths

According to XDA Developers, which has traditionally launched into a meticulous data-mining to make it clear, major changes seem to have been made to the Super-Res Zoom feature, called internally "Saber". As a reminder, it is this feature of digital zoom that allows zoomed photos of smartphones Pixel to be displayed in a level of honorable detail.

But according to the data present in the update of the Google Camera, the resolution of "Saber" would be significantly improved on the hypothetical Pixel 4. Then, XDA was able to note that many references to non-existent sensors on the current pixels were present, including a reference to an infrared facial sensor that could allow the unlocking of the phone by 3D recognition.

9to5mac has come across fairly precise indications concerning the resolution of the famous telephoto. In the Google Camera code, we read "  The telephoto image has dimensions (), but should have dimensions 4656x3496, 4656 × 3492 or 2328 × 1748. ". A piece of text left by a developer for the purpose of "  debugging  ", which suggests a 16-megapixel telephoto sensor.

Last June, Google formalized the design of the Pixel 4  which clearly shows the presence of two photo lenses in the back.
