Amazon's Transparency Anti-Counterfeiting Program Comes to Europe

Amazon, the company launched more than 25 years ago, does not know the crisis. However, so that this kind of problem is not known by its sellers, multibillionaire company Jeff Bezos launched two years ago in the United States "Transparency".

This is a system that avoids counterfeiting and will soon arrive in Europe.

What is Transparency?

Transparency is a system for tracking counterfeits on Amazon. Launched in 2017 in the United States, this system will soon be present in Europe, India, and Canada.

Amazon has for some years been accused of many evils and is slowly trying to improve its image. In order to prevent counterfeiting, the company has created Transparency, a labeling system on every product sold that allows it to scan the QR Code on products when ordered to check that it is not counterfeit. Similarly, when receiving, the customer has an application that allows him to verify that the product is authentic but also to know the date and place of manufacture and the list of ingredients if necessary.

"Counterfeiting is a major concern in the industry - online and offline - we find the most effective solutions to prevent counterfeiting through partnerships that combine Amazon's technological innovation with the knowledge and in-depth knowledge of the industry. brands" says Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon's vice president of customer loyalty and partner support. " We have created Transparency to provide brands with a simple, scalable solution that allows them and Amazon to authenticate trademarks. Transparency in numbers

Transparency represents, up to now, more than 300 million QR Codes affixed on the products. Amazon first tried this system on its own products and now offers it to its customers. Only 4000 brands have so far responded and joined the movement. This is not enough given that Amazon alone has about 450 brands and more than 2.5 million brands and resellers on its platform.

However, the system seems to have proven itself because the American firm has so far had no postponement of counterfeit delivered to the destination and instead halted more than 250,000 counterfeit products.

To join the marks related to the system represented by a T-shaped QR code, all you have to do is register on the platform. We do not know much about the prices that Amazon imposes on its sellers to display this QR Code. However, when Project Zero was set up in February, it was reported that sellers had been taxed at between $ 0.01 and $ 0.05 per piece sold, depending on the volume produced.

This system will soon be available in Europe, India, and Canada and we still do not know the official launch date. However, according to the Amazon FAQ, the application is still available only in the United States.
