Juul, a market leader and target of health authorities

Juul, the leader in the e-cigarette market in the United States with headquarters in San Francisco, is particularly criticized by the health authorities. They criticize the company for using a high percentage of nicotine in its products and adopting an aggressive marketing policy targeting young people. The success of the company is due in particular to the shape of its products, the size of a USB key, and the various fragrances on offer. Between 2017 and 2018, Juul's sales have increased eightfold and the startup has benefited, a few months after its creation, of $ 12.8 billion invested by Altria, manufacturer of Marlboro, which owns 35% of the company.

Juul defended himself in a statement sent to the We have already implemented the most aggressive measures in the industry to prevent our products from falling into the hands of miners and we will continue. "

Now, electronic cigarettes that have not been cleared by the FDA, the US federal health agency, will no longer be sold in San Francisco.
To date, no electronic cigarette has yet been approved by the agency.
