Volvo electric trucks are now on sale (and soon on our roads)

Volvo electric

While Tesla continues to tease us with the arrival of its next Cybertruck, Volvo has just put on sale, Friday, November 8, its first electric trucks.

The Swedish automaker's electric trucks will arrive on European roads early in 2019, the company said.

Several all-electric models

Only a year ago, Volvo Trucks, a subsidiary of the group, announced the future commercialization of a series of 100% electric trucks. In September 2018, the manufacturer unveiled its first electric and autonomous truck, Vera, with the particularity of not having a driver's cabin.

The company then announced an electric trash truck capable of achieving a distance of 200 km before reloading. The Volvo FE Electric is a 16-tonne truck for "heavy city transport". Then came October, the Volvo FL Electric, a 16-tonne truck capable of driving 300 km with different batteries ranging from 100 to 300 kWh.

FE Electric and FL Electric on European roads

The Volvo FE Electric and Volvo FL Electric will be the first two models of this new line-up to travel on European roads.

"  The globalization of urbanization requires urban logistics and transport trucks with zero emissions and less noise pollution (...). With the Volvo FE Electric and Volvo FL Electric, we are able to meet the strong environmental demand while maintaining the commercial requirement of our customers,  "commented the company at the time of the announcement.

The trucks will be marketed in the Scandinavian countries, but also in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France. Mass production will start in March 2020, but orders are already open.
