Nintendo will continue to support 3DS in 2020

Despite the undisputed success of the Switch, Nintendo has not forgotten its good old 3DS. The portable console has sold about 75 million copies worldwide after more than eight years of existence. Thus, the Japanese manufacturer does not intend to abandon it immediately ...

When released last September, the Nintendo Switch Lite was seen by analysts as the new machine exclusively nomadic Japanese firm. The 3DS seemed to be headed straight for an inevitable and well-deserved retirement. Obviously, we should not bury the console so quickly because Nintendo seems to have more in the ideas.

Support for the form?

In an interview with The Verge, Nintendo of America CEO Doug Bowser reaffirmed his commitment to 3DS. The latter will be at least supported until 2020 if we believe the words of Bowser.

We continue to view the 3DS family, both hardware and software, as a strong entry point for consumers. As long as players ask for it, we will continue to support the console (...). We will continue our support for 3DS at the end of the year and in 2020  ".

Of course, it would be surprising to see big exclusives on 3DS in the coming months. Nintendo has turned almost entirely to the Switch since its release in March 2017. A profitable strategy since the hybrid console has exceeded 40 million units sold (figures as of October 26, 2019 ).
