The Linky Radio Equipment (ERL), which transmits the meter data in real-time, would not be harmful to the human body, according to the ANFR technical report, which reports too little exposure to the waves.
In the center of attention and under fire from critics for several years, Linky's electric meters are not close to unanimous. Some fear that it is dangerous for health. The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has delivered its answers in a study on Linky Radio Equipment, which are optional modules for meters deployed throughout France by Enedis.
The device hardly ever emits
The Linky Radio Equipment allows the transmission, on smartphone or tablet and in real-time, meter data from devices that are inside the home. This system makes it possible to be informed continuously of the level of energy consumption of your apartment or your house.
These data being transmitted by Wi-Fi from the meter to the box, then to the device that displays the data, the issue of radio broadcasts was quite natural. ANFR has prepared its report based on the Atom solution proposed by the supplier Direct Energie (now Total Direct Energie) and used by an individual. And the results can not be more reassuring.
According to the Agency, the first major point of the study lies in the distribution of ERL emissions over time. The latter indicates that the device actually transmits only 1% of the time, with a data transmission recorded every 1.6 seconds. A single transmission is split into two shipments lasting 0.01 seconds, with an interval of 0.1 seconds between the two.
An electric field level well below the regulatory limit
ANFR has also responded to the part that most interests the general public: the level of exposure. According to the report, it is very weak and harmless. Over a period of six minutes, the Agency established an average electric field level of approximately 0.18 V /m, with a maximum peak measured at 5 V / m. The regulatory limit value is set at 61 V / m in this frequency band, which means that the health hazard is zero or almost zero, as well as Wi-Fi, measured at 2.8 V / m near an active internet box.
Note that the measuring probe was installed only fifty centimeters from the Atom key attached to the counter Linky test, while we are naturally very often at a much higher distance from our meter. So, reassured?
