The CEO of SpaceX wants to complicate the speed contest in Hyperloop taking place each year, but the goal he has set for his teams seems difficult to achieve.
Hyperloop is one of Elon Musk's latest projects. The turbulent CEO of Tesla or SpaceX aims with this new company, to build tunnels to move quickly in megacities while reducing traffic and congestion at peak times.
A speed contest that reaches its limits
Each year, Elon Musk tests his system by organizing a speed contest, the Hyperloop Pod Competition, in which several teams of students from many countries compete. However, in the last three years, the technological university of Munich won the competition with a peak speed of 463 km / h, 4 km / h less than the previous year.
To add more difficulty to his competition, and give more chances to other participating teams, the CEO said on Twitter that from next year, the challenge will be focused on a 10 km course with a turn to complicate more the test.

An ambitious goal, even unrealistic
The SpaceX teams who built the test tunnel for the Hyperloop Pod Competition are less positive than their exuberant boss.
According to Steve Davis, president of the company Boring Company in charge of the Hyperloop, it will be very difficult to lengthen the tunnel by more than 200 meters, at most. It is now about 1.6 km long, five times shorter than Elon Musk's goal.
Later, the boss of SpaceX calmed his ardor, admitting that his wish was unachievable in the very short term. He remains confident, however: I do not think we can build a long tunnel underground in a year, but in three years it is more feasible.
It's up to SpaceX engineers to dig their heads up enough to justify their leader ...
