Google would have found the successor of Google+: Shoelace, a local dating app

The giant Google is developing a new social network headed by a team from Area 120, the division of the group that develops experimental applications.

After the shutdown of Google+ on April 2, which probably does not lack too many people, Google seeks out of his magic hat a social network reference. The firm of Moutain View, which does not intend to do across one of the few parts of the digital world where it can not win, is developing Shoelace, an app that already has its own website.

Shoelace, what is it?

Developed by the experimental division of Google, Area 120, Shoelace is a mobile linking app. It allows you to meet, through activities, people who share the same interests as you, and who are close to your position

"Proximity" is precisely what best defines the project led by the American company, which takes, for example, the example of the move, to get acquainted with close neighbors who share your passion for small comedy shows. the neighborhood, your sensitivity to good wine, or your love of tennis.

Not a Tinder bis

By visualizing the few images of Shoelace that circulate, we see that the social network should have a map, to directly locate the location of the desired activity, or those taking place around the home.

The application, although it wants to connect people as one binds its laces, does not want to be seen as a new Tinder. Because if certain aspects seem similar, Shoelace should not be based on the clear image and the carnal encounter but on the will to integrate into a new environment.

Available in New York at the moment

The social network should be free, according to the official website of the application. One can imagine that it will include advertising, which should not be too intrusive if it does not want to create confusion or frustration among users.

For now, the app is only available in New York and by invitation, the perfect city for dating. Google tries a blow, and if it is positive, the firm might be tempted to extend its new social network to other cities, then other countries.
