For Ubisoft, Uplay + is a new way for players to interact with developers

Announced at the last E3, Uplay + will be launched next September. But while on-demand services of the genre are proliferating in the video game sector, what added value for Ubisoft's proposal? 

Like the Xbox Game Pass or EA Access, Uplay + is a subscription service that, against 15 euros monthly, offers access to a hundred games from the Ubisoft catalog. But according to the French publisher, the heart of his project is elsewhere: in the rapprochement of players with developers.

If this card has already been played by Google during the presentation of Stadia, we are more surprised to see it reused by Ubisoft for its subscription game service. 

In an interview with GamesIndustry, Ubisoft's executive director for Europe, Middle East and Asia, Alain Corre, said Uplay + was a great opportunity for the company to bring their gambling community closer together. those who create the games. 

"  The reason behind our subscription service ... gives our fans more opportunities to play our games, and we talk to them. We can keep them in our worlds, we can talk to them and - thanks to their feedback and behavior - we can inform development teams "Says Alain Corre. "  When we are in control of these kinds of things in our ecosystems, we feel that it's good for our fans. This is ultimately what we want to do; we want to have more contact with them, more interactions, to be more attentive to what they want and to improve accordingly.  ".

A mountain of data for Ubisoft

A discourse an enigmatic strand, in the sense that the "  new possibilities of interactions  " pushed by Uplay + do not appear as blatant. More apparent, however, are Ubisoft's desire to recover as much data from Uplay + users as possible to shape its next games according to the wishes of the players. 

We must also pay tribute to the transparency shown by Alain Corre. Indeed few companies admit to developing a service in order to keep the players in their ecosystem as long as possible. In the end, the retention of players and the way they will interact with Ubisoft games will probably be rich teaching for the publisher. 

Uplay + will be available on September 3rd on PC. At launch,108 games will be available, and the first month will be free.
